It's fast and it's Indian.....

I am not being sarcastic or something but fast is not the word that can be associated with India except for the speed with which population increases or the vegetables' prices.Be it the Indian railways or the great seamers of the greater Indian cricket team both seem mediocre when it comes to comparing with the global standards of speed. But the one man who refuses to believe so is Vijay Mallya,the liquor & airlines baron who has got a new passion for motor-racing off late.The Bangalorean is known as much as an adventurer as he is an entrepreneur. The VJM02 driven machine that created history in the Belgian grand prix gave a new ray of hope to the Indian fan following.With Karthikeyan's exit from F1 arena,Indians were beginning to lose interest in the sport.But when the fisichella driven machine zoomed past the chequered flag coming second to a determined Raikonnen after a grinding two way battle with the ferrari, the country with a billion aspirations will be hoping for the beginning of a new chapter in the world of F1.
This win was an opportune arrival as India gears up to hosting an inaugural grand prix in 2011.
Though Indians can't relate to Fisichella's podium finish in a way they would have if an Indian driver would have got the achievement,Mallya believes that ,over the season, the Indian fans would gradually embrace the team as their own and added that there is no reason why they shouldn't celebrate Fisichella's success.
But the euphoria was marred by the news of Fisichella getting a move-on to Ferrari.As a desperate cover-up measure,Mallya called for a press conference and intimated one and all that Fisichella's loss will no way slow down the pace and momentum the team has acquired."The machine is the same",he was quoted saying.Sorry sir but you have to be more appreciative of the Italian's expertise especially after the nail biting finish.Mallya's woes are far from over as the govt. says that the F1 can't be considered as a sport with the sports minister MS Gill snubbing Mallya by calling F1 as nothing but "expensive entertainment".The fate of F1 still hangs in the balance ,with the govt. and the FIA at loggerheads. May the year 2011 be a year of reckoning.

With the champions' trophy less than 3 weeks away, the Hall 2 residents have been infected with a virus, which is thought to be more infectious than the notorious H1N1 swine flu virus, the plastic ball cricket which we had done away with years ago thinking it to be unfit for grown-ups. But the ghoul of the past is back and is stronger than ever before taking us all into its grasp in one sway. Day in and day out you can find(if u have been to the MV hall) that, in A-mid, a guy, at least ,will be holding a bat which looks nothing short of a steam rolled 1 lt thumps up bottle.
The ball obviously has a Berhampuri air to it(it has got to as it belongs to our beloved chang pritish berhampuri sahu ). With Shrimoy running-up in his peculiar Grawp-like style before delivering the ball and muna swinging the ball like hell(which could have given the great wasim akram tantrums),
playing cricket seems a lot funnier and enjoyable. Guests appearances by Abhijit ,Sambit,Alok and Chang are often followed by the hilarious cricketing bloopers which will make you laugh your guts out. Amidst all this fiasco the only person who is still worried about technique is dear Animesh.The one thing you would miss here is the sweet sound of timber when the ball strikes the middle of the bat but plastic doesn't sound awful as well. People who pass by the corridor must be mumbling "grow up guys" in their minds..then again who needs to!!!!!
